Our Group-wide Packaging Targets
Since 2018, Kaufland has consolidated its circular economy activities within the framework of the REset Plastic strategy of the companies of Schwarz Group, which primarily focuses on plastics. We have already made significant progress on the path to reducing plastic packaging: Compared with 2018, our relative use of plastic has fallen by almost half. Now Kaufland is going one step further together with the companies of Schwarz Group: With our holistic circular economy strategy REset Resources, we are focusing not only on plastics but also on paper, cardboard, glass, metals and all other materials.
This broad approach covers 225,000 metric tons of additional material for Kaufland, promoting the circular economy along the entire supply and value chain. The new strategy includes five fields of action: circular business models, resource conservation, expansion of reuse, access to recyclable materials as well as sophisticated recovery processes and the use of recycled materials.
